06 · Read carefully

Important notes

  • Documents issued by a foreign government must be attested by that country's foreign ministry and by the Nepali mission there.
  • Nepal is not a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, so documents are attested by MoFA and then often by the destination country's embassy (third-party guide).
  • Local-level documents should follow the new format that DoCS notified on 23 Kartik 2082.
  • Office hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00–16:00 from 16 Kartik to 15 Magh and 9:00–17:00 from 16 Magh to 15 Kartik. Toll-free 1152.
  • There is also a 'MoFA Mitra' mobile app (notice dated 12 Jestha 2083).
