Important notes

No single official source sets out who registers what. A 2026 law-firm summary says DoCSCP is the main registrar for firms in urban areas, municipalities and rural municipalities also register businesses, and ward offices give recommendations.
DoCSCP's current registration and renewal fees, renewal deadline and late fine were not found online; confirm at the office.
DOI's fee table applies to industries registered as proprietorship firms and is shown for comparison. It may not apply to purely commercial firms.
After firm registration you normally also need PAN (Inland Revenue Office) and local business registration (व्यवसाय दर्ता).
