Step-by-step process

  1. 1

Book the trek through a registered Nepali trekking agency. Restricted-area permits are issued only through registered agencies (third-party).

  2. 2

The agency applies to the Department of Immigration for the permit for your area and dates. Apply early, because some areas have quotas.

  3. 3

Also buy any national park or conservation area permits that apply, for example Annapurna for Nar-Phu, Manaslu and Annapurna for the Manaslu route, or Shey Phoksundo for Upper Dolpo.

  4. 4

Pay the permit fee per person (in USD) for the time you will spend in the area.
