03 · At the office

Step-by-step process

  1. 1

Gather the documents for your case (relationship to a deceased person, or between living relatives).

  2. 2

Go to your ward office (वडा कार्यालय) and hand in the application with the document copies at the relevant desk (सम्बन्धित फाँट).

  3. 3

Staff check the documents and, where needed, hold a local inquiry (सर्जमिन) in which local people confirm the relationship.

  4. 4

If you need an English version, ask the ward whether it issues one and what it costs; this was not published online for the cities checked.

  5. 5

Pay the service fee at the ward and keep the receipt.

  6. 6

The ward chair, a ward member or the ward secretary signs the certificate or recommendation.

  7. 7

Collect it and check every name, date and number against your citizenship certificate before leaving.
