Documents you need
Bring original documents together with readable photocopies. Names, dates and record details should match across every document.
- Application (निवेदन) and a copy of your citizenship certificate (नागरिकता प्रमाणपत्रको प्रतिलिपि)
- Identification statement (सनाखत पत्र) made by your guardian or parent in the presence of ward staff (कार्यालयको रोहबरमा), so a parent or guardian normally has to come to the ward
- Local inquiry record (स्थानीय सर्जमिन मुचुल्का), prepared at the ward
- Receipt for land revenue (मालपोत) and house-land tax or integrated property tax paid up to the current fiscal year, or the tax assessment document
- If you live abroad, a recommendation from the Nepali diplomatic mission (embassy or consulate) there

Step-by-step process

Make sure a parent or guardian can come with you to the ward to give the identification statement (सनाखत).

Submit the application with the documents at your ward office's relevant desk.

The ward holds a local inquiry (सर्जमिन) in which local people confirm that you are unmarried.
- 4
Pay the service fee at the ward and keep the receipt.
- 5
The ward chair, a ward member or the ward secretary signs the certificate or recommendation.
- 6
Collect it and check every name, date and number against your citizenship certificate before leaving.

Important notes
- Applicants living abroad need a recommendation from the Nepali mission in that country (Pokhara's list).
- A common reason for delay is not bringing a parent or guardian for the identification statement, or not having a current-year tax receipt for the family property.
