IRD Invoice Numbering Rules – Summary The IRD requires all taxpayers to follow a strict invoice numbering system: Unique & Sequential: Every invoice number must be unique within a fiscal year—no duplicates allowed. Outlet Identification: Businesses with multiple branches must include a branch/outlet code (letter, number, or symbol) in the invoice number. Branch Name Isn’t Enough: Even if the branch name is printed on the bill, the invoice number must still contain the outlet code. No Gaps in Series: Invoice numbering must start from 1 at the beginning of each fiscal year and continue without skipping numbers.
